Mechanically KH1 doesn't play much differently in Proud, but in KH2 and KH3 critical mode gives you additional abilities, and in KH2 you actually do more damage in Crit. they were once represented by the Shield, Sword, and Staff, respectively. So pick your choice wisly, for it will be with you the rest of the game, no matter how many stat increses you give them, one will always be more powerful than other. Each option gains the same abilities and accessory slots, just at different. Against all odds and with big brass balls I became a historian and a savior. Sword is the worst, shield is second tier, staff is the best, since it gives an MP boost, which you can't get through Attack Boosts and the like.
